Ever experience anxiety at work?

Ever had anxiety at work?  Maybe you have a deadline fast approaching.   Perhaps it’s an issue with an abrasive coworker.   It could be that you’re stressing because your working environment is chaotic.

Whatever issues exist, I think it’s safe to say that even the most calm, cool and collected among us have felt the suffocating, heavy weight of anxiety.

What can you do to take control of your situation?  Turns out there are plenty of things!  Some of these ideas will take time and practice, some solutions like taking Anxiety + Tension spray, are very easy.  My suggestion?  Try combining Anxiety + Tension spray with one or more of the ideas I’ve outlined, and increase your chances of success!

  • Think of the larger picture. What does that mean?  Sometimes we get so mired in our routines and the minutia of the day, we forget that there is a larger world out there.   Far from being depressing, it can be liberating to remember how vast the universe is, that we inhabit one small blue planet within it, and that there are billions of other people on the same planet sharing similar or even more difficult issues.  When you focus on the larger picture, sometimes it can put your own problems in a better perspective, and enable you to get through more easily.
  • 5 minutes of gratitude. Another strategy that dovetails nicely with thinking of the larger picture is to take 5 minutes (especially when you are in the thick of things) to be grateful. You may not feel grateful at the moment, but remembering to feel grateful for the blessings we have changes our thinking and feeling patterns.  Everyone has something to be grateful for, and I think if you really take time to be mindful, you will see that you have a great deal of good things to be thankful about.
  • Learn proper breathing techniques. Breathe from the middle of your core, instead of the upper chest.  Your stomach should expand when inhaling through your nose, and then in turn tighten your stomach as you exhale.  This is the natural way to breathe, and as we become stressed we alter our patterns, and breathe more quickly and shallowly.  This is not optimal because we are depriving our bodies of oxygen, which is vital for brain function.   Having better oxygen flow brings improved mental clarity, and can help to alleviate stress.
  • Yoga at your desk. Yes, you can do yoga at your desk!  Check out some moves that you can do right where you are.  In addition to loosening up muscles, it can help keep stress in check and improve blood flow to the brain.
  • Move.   No, I don’t mean change your zip code! I mean get up from your workstation and take some time to physically move around, even if it is just for 5 minutes.  People often assume that being in one position will help concentration, but actually regular breaks often serve to help us refocus our thoughts and emotions.  Physically moving to a new room can help refocus the brain, and give you a break from a stressful situation.
  • Anxiety + Tension spray. This natural homeopathic spray may be just the extra help you need to break the cycle of anxiety.  It was designed specifically to relieve symptoms of feelings of nervous tension and anxiety.

We hope that trying one or more of these ideas will reduce your anxiety.  Remember, everyone experiences some anxiety at one time or another, but it isn’t something that has to be a regular part of your life.
